How to Use Leap: A Complete Beginner's Guide
Leap is an AI-powered platform that turns your text into professional audio content. Whether you're a podcaster, marketer, educator, or content creator, Leap makes it easy to generate natural-sounding voiceovers from any text — no recording equipment required.
This guide will walk you through every step, from signing up to downloading your first audio file.
Create Your Account
Head to useleap.xyz and click "Get Started" or "Create Free Account". You can sign up with your email and a password, use Google sign-in, or request a magic link — whichever is easiest for you.
Once you're in, you'll land on the Dashboard. This is your home base where you can see your credit balance, access the text-to-speech tool, manage teams, and purchase more credits.
Purchase Credits
Leap uses a credit-based system where one character of text equals one credit. Before generating audio, you'll need to pick up a credit pack. Head to the Settings tab or click the credit balance on your Dashboard.
Choose a pack that fits your needs — Hobby for lighter use, Pro for regular content creation, or Power if you're producing at scale. Pricing adjusts automatically based on your region.
Generate Your First Audio
Open the Text to Speech tab from the Dashboard. You'll see a large text area on the left — paste or type the content you want converted. The character count updates in real time so you always know how many credits a conversion will cost.
On the right side, pick a voice from the dropdown. Leap offers 12 professionally trained voices — Alloy, Ash, Ballad, Coral, Echo, Fable, Onyx, Nova, Sage, Shimmer, Verse, and Marin. You can preview each one before committing.
Next, adjust the speed slider. The default is 1x, but you can go anywhere from 0.25x (very slow) up to 4x (very fast) depending on the style you're after.
Add a Voice Personality
Want your audio to have a specific tone? Leap comes with over 28 preset "vibes" you can apply — from Calm and Professional to Mad Scientist and Noir Detective. Just pick one from the list and it will shape how the voice delivers your text.
If none of the presets fit, you can write your own custom instructions. For example, "Speak with a warm, conversational tone as if explaining something to a friend." The AI will follow your direction.
Download and Use Your Audio
Click "Convert" and Leap will process your text. You can watch the progress in real time — queued jobs and in-progress conversions show up at the top of your audio history.
Once it's ready, hit the play button to preview. Happy with the result? Click the download button to save it as an MP3. All generated files are kept for 72 hours, so you have time to come back and grab them.
